There are many negative impacts the Tundra faces every day. Permafrost that is in the Tundra area melting can result in global warming. This could permanently change the landscape of this biome. The air pollution from factories and other things can cause nasty clouds that contaminate lichens. These lichens are part of an important food source in the Tundra. Most humans search the tundra for oil, gas, and minerals. This could damage the environment that the plants and animals like in when humans invade into there home. The construction of pipelines and roads can cause disturbances that are physical to the environment. For example, if a group of researchers was to come to the Tundra, they may try to have the tundra fit their needs by adding some man-made products into it. This could cause a physical disturbance to the area. Another example would be and habitat fragmentation. Habitational fragmentation could be small geological processes that slowly alter the landscape in the surrounding area. The oil drilled from the tundra can cause mass destruction to the wildlife surrounding it if not handled properly. Another example would be if people were to like in the tundra. This could cause a huge difference to this biome. The buildings and roads can cause pressure to the permafrost, which causes it to melt. The different things brought by humans can cause a huge change too. This includes ideas, diseases, plants, different animals, and more. When this happens litter also builds up. This could be from accidentally dropping a gum wrapper to digging up a dump to store waste. All of these are ways that humans negatively impact the environment.
