The tundra is the coldest and driest biome out of all of the biomes. Tundra consists of 1/5 of the land on Earth. The tundra is mainly located in the arctic circle. There are two main types of tundras. This includes the alpine tundra and arctic tundra. The alpine tundra is where trees cannot grow and it located in high altitude mountains. The arctic tundra is in the northern hemisphere around the north pole and going towards the south to the evergreen, taiga forests. Low shrubs and furred animals are common in this weather. The arctic circle is the area that surrounds the north pole. Even though the tundra has a freezing cold temperature, there are a few animals and plants in this biome. This biome has a short season for reproduction and growth. As a result, most of the animals in this weather and biome go into hibernation.
